Mr T. J. Shaw was elected a member of the Hamilton Rotary Club at the weekly luncheon of the club to-day. Mr S. C. Doyle, superintendent of railway road services, has retired on superannuation, after 40 years in the Railways Department. Mr Arthur Tait, of the J. C. Williamson management, who has been spending a holiday at Rotorua, will sail for Sydney from Auckland by the Awatea this evening. Messrs J. H. Quilliams, J. K. Houghton 'New Plymouth), C. C. Gibbs, H. E. Barrowclough, M. Carlson. (Auckland;, J. G. Ingram Nelson), J. B. Clark and K. Fuller (Wellington) are at the Hamilton Hotel. The Rt. Rev. H. St. B. Holland, Bishop of Wellington, who was recently ordered a complete" rest after suffering minor injuries in a motor accident, is reported to be making very satisfactory progress. The Minister of Public Works and Transport, the Hon. R. Semple, left Wellington on Saturday for a lengthy tour of the Auckland district, where he will deliver a number of political addresses. He will speak at Rotorua on Wednesday night, and at Morrinsville on Thursday. j At the annual meeting of the Auckland District of the Ancient Order of Foresters, the. following officers were elected: District chief ranger, Mr N. il. Swanson; district sub-chief ranger, Mr N. J. Partridge; district executive councillors, Messrs W. E. Jones, W. 11. Seaman, W. G. Stokes, D. Milligan. I. Bieleski; treasurer, Mr W. J. Porter; superintendent of juveniles, Mr A. E. Ilarkin. _______
