Copyright MELBOURNE, May 8 The Australian eight-oar cliampion--1 ship for tne King’s cup yesterday resulted:—Western Australia J, New South Wales 2. Tasmania 3. Western Australia’s thorough training and physical fitness counteracted the polish of their rivals. Western Australia and New South Wales from the start forged ahead of the other State crews, and the winners had only a canvas to spare when passing the finishing line. There were four lengths between second and third. The time for the distance of two and a-lialf miles was 14m 13s. The Australian amateur sculling championship was retained by G. Pearce (New South Wales), who easily beat Purves (Victoria) and Ninliam (South Australia).
