RESULTS FROM PUKEKOHE FIRST EVENT TO DRAGON MOTH CHEVAL DE VOLEE'S PRESIDENT’S ’(By Telegraph—Special from “Martian”) PUKEKOHE, Saturday. The winter meeting of the Franklin Racing Club was held at Pukekohe today in fine weather. There was a large crowd present and the track was holding after recent rfiin. The finish from the straight entrance was a duel between Dragon Moth and Du Maurier. the pair being locked together over the last furlong, and the local representative .lust managing to get his head in front on the post. Mia Fratollo was the first to move and Gay Rebel led out from Prlval. Mundane, Abbey Lass and Du Maurier. Racing along the back. Mundane was showing out from Abbey La-ss and Du Maurier, hut at the hairmile Mai de Mer had run through to assume command from Du Maurier. who had also Improved bts position. Abbey Lass, Dragon Moth, Prlval and School Song. Du Maurier had taken up the runnln? at the home turn, being practically on terms with Dragon Moth, at tht-s stage, with a length and a-hair to Mundane, prlval. Abbey Lass, and Mia Fratollo. In an exciting finish, In which only the judge was able to separate them. Dragon Moth got the verdict by hair-a-head over Du Maurier, with Mai de Mer two lengths away third. The favourite, Prlval, was rourth, then came Abbey Lass, Mundane. Mia Fratollo, Gav Rebel, School Song, Chief Lap and Sliver Eagle. Time, 1.32.

High Star justified the strong -support that was accorded him wnen he won well arter going to the front six furlongs from home. Jan Rldd set the early pace hy leading for the first six furlongs, but he quickly retired ovpr the concluding stages. Queen Lu. who returned double figures for a place, shaped like an improver. Mana and Innes T.ad did not begin well and Mana early wa« carrying the field. Jan Rldd led over the first stages from Slam, Rua King and count Rouslllon, and racing past tne stand? he was out four lengths from High star and Queen Lu, who were in front of Count Rouslllon. Flood Light. Slwell, Full of Scotch and Slam. Along the back High Star had headed Jan Rldd and showed out from Flood Light, Queen Lu and Count Roussillon. Here Slwell was well back but he made a forward move on the outer and at the half-mile he was on the heels or High Star. They came into the straight on terms with Queen Lu and Full or .Scotch racing together behind and followed hy Flood Light, Tnne«s Lad and Count Rouslllon. Count Rouslllon fell at thp last rence and High Star carried on to win by one and a-quarter lengths lrom Slwell. who beat Qupen Lu by three lengths.
