ALLEGED PERJURY

LABOURER FOR TRIAL (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday Anthony George Bouterey (37), labourer, pleaded not guilty to the charges of subornation to perjury brought against him in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. Cyril Wilfred Stanley, labourer, aged 20, of Thorp, Nelson, said that he met the accused in Dunedin in 1934 and had worked for him in Christchurch. Early in 1937, when the accused and his wife were not living together, accused told witness that he wanted to get a divorce from his wife and detailed evidence' about alleged parties at Napier, which he wanted witness to give in the divorce case. Witness outlined the evidence he gave in the divorce case, which, he said, was entirely false and given to mislead the Court. He had never been in the North Island and had only seen Munro at the Supreme Court. Witness had never seen anyone commit adultery with accused’s wife.

Peter Alexander Munro, fisherman, of Auckland, said that he was cited as co-respondent in the divorce action Bouterey v. Bouterey at the beginning of 1936, when he knew neither the accused nor his wife. Witness had never seen Mrs Bouterey up to the present.

The accused pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
