** I will try to make any anlma Dear Girls and Boys, I When you receive this j letter many of you will be commencing your holidays agatn. I seems only recently that I wrote reminding you about if the need to make arrangements for the care of your pets If you should be leav- ; -*ng home and now I am again reminding, you. Perhaps some of you think It is not necessary, but I know that, without meaning to be unkind, girls and boys are often j likely to be forgetrul, especially in the excitement of going away. I have a very -ad picture Imprinted on my mind about which I will tell you. When I was quite a small girl, I went away to the seaside with a family whose home was near to my own. On the day oi our return, a little boy, one of the ramily with whom 1 had been staying, .-aid: “ Let’s go and see my rabbit.” We raced off to the end of the garden expecting to see the big white bunny appear at the cage grating, but no, he was not there. I I bare in my care very happy.” there was bis poor rabbit dead. It had eaten every scrap or straw which was Its bed and had even tried to eat through the wood of Its cage. I can see that little boy now, tears rolling down his race as he held the little dead body In his arms. I think It was such a sad lesson, but he would never again Torget his pets. I was visiting rrlends In Hamilton one day, and noticed sveeral small cages hanging on a back wall. When I enquired what they were Tor, the children replied. “ Oh we had some white mice, but they died while we were at Raglan.” Did they Torget all about them, or did they Torget to arrange Tor some one else to attend to them during the holidays? I wonder!!! Now, I want you all to have a real good time, and thoroughly enjoy the holiday. Try to help and cheer those around you, who may be needy or sad, for you can ;do this, and still find room In your thoughts ror animals and birds. Wishing i you a very happy holiday.
