DEATH OF SCHOOLGIRL ACCIDENT NEAR MORRINSVILLE INEFFICIENT BRAKES OF CAR The Jury's verdict in the case iji which James Alfred Jones (26) and Albert Thomas Jones (24), brothers, of Tauhei, were charged with negligent driving, causing the death of a schoolgirl, Phyllis Audrey Marwood, near Morrinsville, on February 23. was delivered in the Supreme Court, Hamilton. yesterday afternoon. The jury found Albert Jones, the driver, guilty of negligent, driving causing death, and .Tames Jones was acquitted on the negligent, driving charge but on an alternative charge of committing manslaughter through failing to ensure that the brakes of his car were efficiently adjusted, he was found guilty. Accused were remanded until Tuesday for sentence. “This is a very unfortunate case, but that observation applies to any accident involving the death of or serious injury to a follow being,” said the Chief Justice. Sir Michael Myers, in his sum-ming-up to the jury. Aroused were represented by Mr E. McGregor, of Morrinsville, and the case for the Grown was conducted by Mr 11. T. Gillies and Mr J. R. Fitz-Gerald.
