The latest Bank of England returns are:— Issue Department: Notes in circulation £490.500,000, notes in the banking department £35.900.000. other Government securities £188.800,000, other securities £200,000, silver coin nil. Banking department: Rest £3.200.000. public deposits £10.700,000, bankers* deposits £117,500.000, other accounts £36.000.000, Government securities £117,800.000, discounts and advances £8,200,000, other securities £19,200,000, notes and coin £36,700,000. Ratio of reserve to liability, 22.33. The Bank of England discount rate remains unchanged at two per cent.
