Their mother is a white woman, Senora Rafaela Comas. The local newspaper. El Pais, stated that the municipal judge confirmed the birth of the babies. The birth of septuplets probably constitutes a record. It recalls the birth of quintuplets on May 28, 1934, to Mrs Ovila Dionne, aged 24, wife of a farmer, at her home near Corbeil, Ontario. Commenting on the birth of the quintuplets at the time Dr. Morris Fishbein. editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association, said that such occurrences were so rare that only 30 cases had been recorded in the previous 300 years.
