SHOOTING SEASON
MORE GOOD BAGS SECURED PROSPECTS FOR THE WEEK-END Good bags of duck, pheasant, quail and pukeko continue lo ho taken in the Waikato and prospects for the. weekend again appear to he bright, Several parties in the Parawera and Puniu districts, shooting on private property, have secured limits, while 13 pheasant were secured by Messrs W. Phil!,ns and L. Phillips during a day near Te Mata. Mr W. Jerome took four pheasant in the Raglan area and another sportsman secured two pheasant and six quail at Orini. Though results were disappointing on the opening day at Rangiriri there appear to he as many duck and swan as usual about that area although tliev are more scattered than usual. Waterways around Waito.i have yielded good results and several good bags have fallen to guns working along the Waikato River between Arapuni and Hora II ora. The wet weather over the past two days has resulted in pheasant taking refuge in the bush country, but with a continuation of the conditions ruling to-day birds can be to be feeding in the scrub. Warm, clear weather over the week-end should ensure Waikato sportsmen excellent [bags of pheasant and quail.
