RACING AT PUKEKOHE
FRANKLIN FIXTURE THE ONEWHERO STEEPLES WAIKATO HORSES ENGAGED BE VIEW or THE PROSPSCTS 'By “Martian") Fin* fields are carded for th<* winter meeting, at Pukekohe. to-morrow, of the Franklin Racing Club, and with fine weather conditions the club should experience a most successful gathering. The principal event, the Onewhero Steeplechase, has attracted a wellbalanced fTeld and, as In the case of the balance of the programme, betting should be widely distributed. Win and place betting will be in operation. Following as the fields, with a review of the prospects:— 11.45 PUKEKAWA HACK HANDICAP Of *150; 7 rur and 22yds st. 11). st. lb. Forest Acre has good form over the distance but a heavy track will not assist him. Abbey Lass, too .owuld be preferred more on top of the ground and under the circumstances Du Maurler, who handled the holding going well at headquarters the other morning, may be preferred. He has been off the scene for a spell, but has made splendid progress In recent weeks and should give a good account of himself to-morrow. Prlval performed consistently at Whangarei and won • t Avondale the first day. Dragon Moth makes appeal. She should be benefited by her race at Avondale the second day when she dead-heated with Superior Guard. Hunting Star may improve on Avondale running, but lnnes Lad and High Star should both account for him. Th# latter will probably be the actual favourite as the result of his forward running at Avondale and what beats him should win. Gay Bronev and Count Rouslllon are likely Improvers with a chance, while Jan Ridd. who has been schooling in promising style. Is not without a chance. Lillie is known of the jumping credentials of Tane Mahutu. Queen Lu has been shaping satisfactorily in her schooling essays at Te Rapa, and My Money. Windsor Lad indicated a return to form at Ellerslie recently but he will have to give of his best to hold off a number more favourably situated in the handicap. Sand-drift is a strong possibility. Mio Lume should be accounted for by Lucidus, who looks improved with racing. Kinkle comes in at a handy poundage and and must be respected on that account. while the improving Mv Money should beat the others. Bona Bay and Miss Ln .are also in the President’s Handicap but. if reserved, will have to he treated with respect.
