Mr Mellon’s death occurred a few days before the decision was expected on the 3,075,104 dollars income tax suit against him. Mr Mellon, who was the fourth richest man in the United States, with a fortune estimated at £200,000,000, is said to have given J.ls daughter a cheque for £2,000,000 when she was married.
