The Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Publlo Works and Transport, will arrive in Auckland by the Awatea on Monday morning from Australia, where he has been recuperating after his recent illness.
Mr A. P. Nelson, of Hamilton, left this morning by air for Dunedin.
Mr A. Edmonds, of Putaruru, is gazetted as deputy-registrar of marriages, births and deaths.

Professor H. R. Rodwell, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce at Auckland University College, was in Hamilton last evening.
Mr W. Lockhead, of Napier, has been appointed manager of the Hawke’s Bay Rugby team to travel to Hamilton on Wednesday.
Messrs H. M. Corbett and D. Courtney have been returned unopposed as directors representing the Thames and Te Aroha-Waihou-Sprin,idale wards on the Thames Valley Dairy Company.
Prior to his departure on transfer to Hamilton Mr B. Ball, of the Wanganui Court staff, was met by his colleagues and representatives of the police force and presented with a pipe and engraved tobacco pouch.
At the annual meeting of the Waikato Racing Club to-day, members stood In silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr. S. Tapp, who had been a member of the comrftittee for 16 years.
Mr Justice Callan, who has been presiding at the quarterly Supreme Court session in Hamilton has returned to Auckland for the week-end. He will be in Hamilton again on Monday when the session will resume.

The following degress have been conferred by the New Zealand University Senate: —Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, University of Otago, Mr Walter James Ramsay; Bachelor of Dental Surgery, University of Otago, Mr Pat Noakes.
After an absence of four years Mr Colin Tapley, formerly of D'unedin, who has had much success as a film actor at Hollywood, is expected to return on a short visit in October, after he has completed a picture in Malaya. He will return to Hollywood later.
