LIVE PIGEON SHOOTING.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Referring to the interview with your representative at Morrinsville, reported in Wednesday’s issue, I wish to make it dear that my remarks applied solely to the matoh then In progress, and that In prlnoiple I am not in favour of live pigeon shooting as a sport. It may not be cruel when only champion shots are engaged, but very different if amateurs take part; and as the society’s aim is to eliminate cruelty the only way to prevent it in this kind of sport is by making live pigeon shooting illegal, which has been the objective of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for years past on the lines of the English Act.—l am, etc.,
A. C. ANDERSON. Inspector, S.P.C.A, Hamilton, August 25.
