THE MELBOURNE GAS WORKS MORE WAGES AND ALLOWANCES United Press Assn —Elec. Tel. Copyrlgb (Received August 27, 3 p.m.) MELBOURNE, August 27 The terms of settlement of the gas workers’ strike were accepted last night by the Gas Employees’ Union, and the men left the West Melbourne and South Melbourne works after a strike lasting 15 days. morning, but it is not expected that ihere will he restoration of the full pressure of gas for nearly a week. The terms of settlement include a 3s industry allowance, an |:inual bonus system, and a basic wage of £3 16-s. The men claimed a 6s industry allowance.
