instances of the very favourable terms on which pensions are offered to people of small means under the British Government’s Voluntary Pensions Bill arc given by Sir Kingsley Wood in the July issue of Home and Empire. After declaring that the Bill provides what may fairly be termed “ pensions at bargain prices," he says: “A man of r,o next birthday entering the scheme during the first year pays Is 3d a week, but to obtain the same benefit privately he would have to pay at the very least 15s Id a week. In the same way a woman of 55, who will pay fid a week, secures benefits which would otherwise cost more than 8s a week. Again a man of 40 next birthday coming in after the first year will pay ‘2s ild a week for benefits equivalent to a weekly payment of 5s Id."
