Colonel S. Church, of the Salvation Army, Wellington, was in Hamilton yesterday.

Mr. S. Johnson has relinquished his position as licensee of the Hamilton Hotel anil left to-day for a holiday in the south.

Mr G. T. Mitchell, of the staff of the Te Uku post office, has been transferred to Patea. He will be replaced bv Mr K. G. Cathey, of Waitara.

Messrs R. Alley (Hikutaia), S. E Taylor (Stratford), E. L. Bartleet, S. Glading, and D. 11. A. Niblock (Auckland) are at the Hamilton Hotel.

Lieutenant-Commissioner F. Auams. head of the Salvation Army, in New Zealand, was a visitor to Hamilton yesterday for the opening of the new wing at "The Nest,” Melville.

Mr C. A. Barrell, M.P., and* Mr J. 5. Anchor, were elected patron amt president respectively of the Frankton Citizens' Association at the annual meeting of the Association held last evening.

In tribute to the memory of Mr Stephen Tapp, those present at the annual meeting of the Frankton Citizens' Association last evening, 6tood

in silence for a moment. The secretary was also instructed to convey to Mr Tapp’s relatives the sympathy of the Association.

Mr R. A. Singer, barrister, of Auckland. who was the victim of a mysterious explosion at the entrance to his home on July 8, has sufficiently recovered to resume duty at the court. He was congratulated by members of the bar on making his first appearance yesterday. Mr T. A. West, manager of the Dargaville branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, has received notice of his promotion to the managership of the Palmerston North branch. Mr C. R. Mazengarb, manager of the Mosgiel branch, being transferred to Dargaville to succeed Mr West.
