BAZAAR AND SOCIAL.

FUNCTION AT PUAHUE. Puahue was en fete’ recently, the occasion being a bazaar and entertainment in the hall. The bazaar was formally opened by Mr R. Baillie, senior, one of the oldest settlers In the district, in the presence of an exceedingly large number. No stone had been left unturned to make the evening a success, and It was most gratifying to the organiser and the committee of Puahue ladles to see their efforts well rewarded. Those In charge of the stalls were; Produce, etc., Mesdames Garrett and C. Parish; fancy and needlework, Mesdames Judge, Taylor and Hooper, and Miss Glasson; sweets and surprise packets, Mrs Skerman and Misses Williams and Mary Glasson; fish pond, Mrs Ball. The supper arrangements were In the hands of Mesdames Mu lion, Gartlt.t and Grighton and Misses Cole and Baillie. Miss O. Hattaway served Icecream, and Master Charles Taylor, as a telegraph hoy in uniform, was kept busy delivering telegrams. Several enjoyable items were given by the school children, and during the' evening numerous games added to the fun of the function. At an interval in the proceedings Mr H. Judge expressed appreciation of the interest taken in the Sunday School by Mrs C. Parish and Miss Mary Glasson, who were made the recipients of gifts. The eve’nlng's effort, with the children’s fancy dress dsnee held two weeks ago, has resulted in the sum of £52 being realised. The greater part of this sum will go towards providing a suitable giJ't for the Wilson Home for Crippled Children at Takapuna. Prizes and competitions were won during the evening by Mr W. G. Park. Mr F. Morris. Mr John Garrett; Mrs | Quin, Mr A. Dobbs, Mrs Garfltt, Mrs Burton, and Mrs Ferguson.
