AUCKLAND TROTTING PROSPECTS.

THE AUGUST MEETING FINE FIELDS ENGAGED WIN AND PLACE BETTING. The August meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club will be held at Alexandra Park to-morrow, and with useful fields engaged in the respective races a fine day’s sport appears certain to be provided. The presence of several visitors will add interest to the fixture. Betting will be on the win and place system.

INTRODUCTORY HANDICAP. 5f £200; trotters: limit, 3.49; 1J miles. EUiotvale . . Lt. yds bhd Gold Kip ... Lt. Colleen Murphy 36 Great Guy . Lt. Lady Bunker . 36 Pink Lady . . Lt. Baron Derby . 84 Pirate’s Last . Lt. Elissa .... 84 Querlda .... Lt. Pura Bingen . 96 Worthy Lu . . Lt. Sport will commence with an event for improving unhoppled trotters. Eliotvale is a recent arrival from the south, and is a half-brother to Stand By. Gold Kip and Great 'Guy will have to Improve a great deal upon their recent form to hold prospects, and Pink Lady is certain to be preferred. This mare ran second at the February meeting at Epsom, and Is looking a picture of condition. Pirate’s Last. would have to be considered should a heavy track prevail, while Worthy Lu is an Improver. Colleen Murphy nnd Lady Bunker have form to' their credit, while the best of the remainder may be Pura Bingen, who has won at her last two starts. A preference may be shown for— LADY BUNKER PINK LADY PURA BINGEN MOUNT EDEN HANDICAP. Of £200; limit, 3.5; li miles. Adversity ... Lt. Kete Kura . . Lt. Bronze Queen Lt. Kew. Bingen Lt Captain Scott Lt. Kia Kaha ... Lt Chill Bean . . Lt. Sequoia ... Lt. Eyre ... Lt. silver Bullet . Lt. Forest Jewel . Lt. Top Hand . . Lt. Gold Meldom . Lt. Vanora .... Lt. Great Gem . . Lt. Roman Chicr . 36 With a field of twenty-two there Is plenty of room for a surprise, but on the effort of Guide Peter when he finished second to Crocus at the autumn meeting this novice looks like being the public elect. He has drawn the front row, and this will assist him. Adversity and Gold Meldon have been scratched. Captain Scott is a pacer who Is apt to surprise, while Eyre’s running recently has given the impression that she will Join the winning list before the season is far advanced. Ilillcrest may be all the better for a race, but Hori Bingen will oarry the field along at a smart clip for a good portion of the Journey. Kewpie’s Bingen is working well, while Top Hand is promising, as Is Bronze Queen. Worthy Song Is a good beginner with fine early speed, and the best of the others may be Grattan Girl. Some that may be fancied are— GUIDE PETER KEWPIE’S BINGEN BRONZE QUEEN AUGUBT HANDICAP. Or £300; limit, 4.36; 2 miles. Kew. King . . Lt. yds bhd yds bhd Star Pronto . 3 6 Ironside ... 24 Aervle's Last . 48 Lady Fame . , 24 Our McKinney 48 In the chief event of the day the f?eld is not strong numerically, but there is plenty of material for a fine contest. Kewpte’s King is the only one on the front, and he will be staying on. but Ironside will have to Improve upon recent form to hold his own In this class. Lady Fame is very speedy, and is not likely to be forgotten by backers. Star Pronto worked splendidly on Thursday, and is not lacking in condition. His chances will depend upon how the Australianpacer shapes in the running, as he Is apt to leave his feet for no apparent reason. The splendid form of Nervle’s Last will ensuro the gelding getting more than his share of the support, nnd he looks like being the favourite. Our McKinney is one of the gamest pacers in commission, and he will be sticking on when the others are feeling the pinch. The favourites nay be — NERYIE’S LAST our mckinney GREY LYNN HANDICAP. or £200; limit, 3.38; U miles. Ann Pointer . Lt. yds bhd Bedford . . . Lt. Sandusky . . 12 Crocus ... Lt. Atarau King . 12 Waltawa . . . I-t. naron Derby . 24 jueenle Direct Lt. Charterts Bay . 36 Lucky Love . 3 6 Backers are not likely to look far for the favourite, as the Takanlni trainer, F. J. Smith, has both Sandusky and Crocus engaged. Both pacers arc likely to take a much tighter mark, and they are very nicely placed In this • event. Bedford is working satisfactorily, while Queenle Direct lias also pleased of late. Atarau King has Improved a lot since coming north and is a likely place filler. The back markers. Charteris Bay nnd I uckv Love, mnv find it difficult, to give a Start and a boating In some of those nearer the front. Most supnart may be accorded— SANDUSKY—CROCUS bracket ATABAI KING ROYAL OAK HANDICAP. . m,u Tt: ,s,: Hot ,;rande . . Lt. Tan John ... 48 yds bhd Te Kalui . . . 60 carl Mack . . 24 Young Rodney 7 2 Swordsman . . 24 Meadow King 108 Again F. J. Smith is likely to be the elect of backers, as Swordsman is nicelv placed on 24yds, as he has been showing improvement in solidness in Ins recent starts. There is no doubling his speed, and he looks a bright prospect. ( h I Mack showed distinct

finished third at the June fixture, while Tan John has been brought from Waverlev specially to compete in one race. It is a long way to come, and the chestnut’s chances cannot be lightly discarded. Te Kahu will probably be one of the early leaders, and appeals as a fine place bet. Young Rodney may be held safe by Meadow King, who is a fine trotter. Backers may prefer— SWORDSMAN TAN JOHN MEADOW KING ' ONEHUNGA HANDICAP. or £225; *mit, 3.30; li miles. Blandrord . . Lt. yds bhd Compass ... Lt. Guld Ilalrst . 36 Gay Sister . . Lt. Imposter ... 36 Munga Tangl Lt. Kewpie’s Bond 36 Our Peggy . . Lt. Kewpie’s Crest 36 Wlnaway ... 48 With a first and a second to his credit in his last two starts Munga Tangi makes direct appeal and he will take some beating. He is a very fit horse, and will lack nothing on the score of reinsmanship. Compass won well on the second day of the June meeting, and will have plenty of friends, while Our Peggy will also have to be considered. Guid Hairst is very well at present, as is Kewpie’s Crest. Kewpie’s Bond is a possibility. The chief fancies may be— MUNGA TANGI COMPASS OUR PEGGY ORAKEI HANDICAP. Or £200; limit, 3.34; 1J miles. Argolls . . . I.t. yds bhd King Country Lt. Nnwton Parrish 12 Lucky Love . Lt. Parrish Bell Ranfurly Lass Lt. (T.) . . . 12 Royal Jewel Lt. Spesslva *. . . 12 yds bhd Great Chum . . 21 Luminate ... 12 Musketeer . . 24 The winner appears to be well concealed, as the race Includes several likely Improvers, and the Issue Is very open. Argolls and Great Chum will be bracketed, and both pacers have been working exceptionally well at Epsom. King Country is not lacking in speed, while Ranfurly Lass won at her last start. Royal Jewel Is equal to the task of winning, while Nawton Parrish would have plenty of friends If the going was fairly good. Musketeer possesses more than the average turn of pace, and according to reports from Takanini has gone on the right way of late. A trio that may be in demand are— ARGOLIS—'GREAT CIIUM bracket MUSKETEER RANFURLY Lj\SS MASSEY MEMORIAL HANDICAP. Or £225; limit, 2.48; li miles. ICenworthy . . Lt. yds bhd Kewpie’s King Lt. Auto Machine 2 4 yds bhd Lady Fame . 24 Gold Dredge . 12 King’s Warrior 48 Our McKinney 12 Nervle’s Last . 48 Star Pronto . 12 Several of the horses engaged In the open sprint event, also claim an engagement in the August Handicap earlier In the day, and running in the latter event may prove a good guide. Kenworthy rarely runs a bad race, while Kewpie’s King also has to be considered. Gold Dredge would be difficult to dispose of should the going be at all good, and Our McKinney and Lady Fame are more than possibilities. The back markers are the bracketed, King's Warrior and Nervie’s Last, and the stable representative on the day will posslbily carry most support. Both are in great order. In a good betting race the bulk of the money may go on— NERYIE’S LAST —KING’S WARRIOR bracket GOLD DREDGE KENWORTHY
