INCREASE IN REVENUE RISE IN INCOME TAX RETURNS FLOATING DEBT HIGHER (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, August 24 An increase of more than 12 per cent in the yield from income tax last week compared with the corresponding week in 1936 is a fcaturfc of the latest Exchequer returns. These show that the total ordinary revenue amounts to £245,904,532, compared with £236,225.519 at the corresponding date last year. The past week's total of ordinary revenue', £1.785,268, was £643,468 in excess of Hie total for the corresponding week last year. The total expenditure, less selfbalancing items, was £322,311.833, compared with £300,340.012 at the corresponding date in 1936. Floating debt outstanding at August 21 was £884,535,000, which shows an increase -of £186,405,000 since March 31 and compares with £823,225,000 at August 22, 1936.
