LOCAL OBSERVATIONS The following looal observations on the weather are supplied by Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, Limited, Hamilton: Barometer Wednesday 29.95 Thursday 29.90 Thermometer Max. Min. Tuesday 59 55 Wednesday 60 50 Mean Temperature, 55 deg. The barometer reads 39.90 and has very little movement. Indications are for fair to oloudy weather to-day and to-morrow, with mild temperature, scattered showers and south-westerly winds prevailing. The Rainfall Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, 1.06in. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .l iln. Rainfall for August to date, 2.031 n. Average rainfall for August, 3.96in. Rainfall for year to date, 29.551 n. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32in. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Valley is as follows: Forecast: Moderate to strong north-east to easterly winds. Weather dull and misty with rain, heavy In places. Seas rather rough to rough. General Inference: An anticyclone, situated east of the South Island, is moving away and a depression of moderate Intensity covers the eastern Tasman Sea and New Zealand, its centre being west of the Auckland Peninsula.
