LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

KIHI KIHI BRANCH The Klhi Kihi branch of the League of Mothers held its second annual general meeting in the Kihi Kihi Town Hall supper-room on August 18, when there was a good attendance of members, Mrs G. McGhie presiding. The meeting opened with the singing of the National Anthem, following which the aims, objects and rules of the League were read. The prayer for peace was also read. The agenda paper and correspondence were read, following this the roll-call. Apologies were received, and Mrs Temple gave the thought for the month.

The secretary’s annual report and the balance-sheet were read and adopted, and the president also read her annual review, which showed the year to have been one of splendid progress.

Appreciation was expressed to the various speakers at the meetings during the year. The infantile paralysis epldemlo had shortened the year, owing to the loss of meetings. Letters of sympathy had been sent to several members, and Interesting letters had been received from the Auckland branch. Cordial welcomes had been extended by other branches which had been visited, and the branch Itself had cntertalned°Mrs English, the provincial president and a member of the executive, who had spoken on the

aims and objects of the organisation. This had been a combined meeting of Hie South Auckland branches. The combined birthday parly and husbands’ night had been celebrated and had proved most successful. The report closed with votes of thanks, and thanks to the members for their

00-operatlon in making the year such a successful one.

Tlj# officers elected for tho year 1987-38 are. ns follows:—Mrs G. Mcfiliie, president; Mrs Roblhson, vicepresident; Miss T. Temple, secretary; Mrs 11. Ivlnzett, country correspondent; Mrs Glassoy, rent collector. A letter of thanks and appreciation was received from the district organiser, Mrs Barnett. Mrs McGhie pronounced tho Benediction and the meeting closed with The following members wore present: —Mcsdames G. McGhie, Glassey. Price, Temple, Cullen, Bryant, Raine, Robinson, Kennedy, Barclay, Baker, iKinzelt, Croasdale and F. Temple.
