MINISTER STARTLED. j STRONG MEASURES NECESSARY. j (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Wednesday. Reporis sent in to the Hon. W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, by ' officers engaged in official deer destruction operations showing the deer menace to forests, and the destruction from the cutting and burning off of trees and undergrowth along the ranges over a period of years, are described by the Minister as ‘•startling.*’ They have convinced him of the need, for strong measures being adopted to deal with the problem of the erosion. He intends, he said, to confer in the matter with the Minister of Lands, the Hon. tf. Langstone.
