NEW YORK, August S 3 A message from Longbranch, New Jersey, -says that the Welsh boxer, Tommy l\rr, who is to meet Joe Louis on Thursday in a bout for the American heavy-weight championship, cancelled -his proposed light work-out owing, to rain and went to a cinema. He asserted that he would beat Louis. “ I believe,” he added, “ that the man does not live who can knock me out.’’ At Pompton Lakes Louis is weatherbound. He punched the bag for five rounds instead of his usual six and did a mile of road work. His manager announced that Louis will not meet Schmeling in 1937, regardless of the outcome of his contest with Farr. The negro intended to take a holiday on September 4 and lo visit London and Paris.
