TOBACCO GROWERS’ DECISION MAJORITY FAVOUR MOVE (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. An overwhelming majority in favour of the formation of a federation of all tobacco growers in New Zealand In place of the several existing associations was shown in a secret postal ballot of growers taken recently by the Tobacco Board. The result of voting was announced by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, today, as follows: For the Proposal 318 Against 80 Informal 9 “ I consider that the formation of a New Zealand tobacco growers’ federation will be a big step forward in the development of the tobacco-growing Industry," said the Minister. “Existing associations have been and are established more, or less on the basis of companies for which members are growing leaf and the result is that the associations have never been able to speak with ono voice."
