YOUNG WOMAN’S DEATH. THE INQUEST CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday A verdict that Una Maud Millard, single, second cook at the Masonic Hotel, committed suicide by taking poison while in a state of unsound mind, was returned by Mr F. W. Platts, coroner, at the inquest this morning. Deceased died at Cambridge on Monday night. WAR IN CHINA. BRITISH PROPOSAL ACCEPTABLE LONDON, August 24 The Chinese Embassy in London has made public the following telegram received from Nanking: “The Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs has informed the British Ambassador that China is prepared to accept the British proposal in principle for the immediate withdrawal of forces, including men-of-war, from the Shanghai area, with the protection of the Japanese settlements and extra settlements roads entrusted to the foreign authorities, if such a proposal is accepted by Japan.” DUKE OF WINDSOR A BISHOP’S COMMENT.
