The following local observations on the weather are supplied by Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster* Limited, Hamilton: Barometer Tuesday 30.20 Wednesday 29.95 Thermometer Max. Min. Monday 62 53 Tuesday 59 55 Mean Temperature, 57 deg. The barometer reads 29.95 and is falling. Unsettled weather is indicated to-day and to-morrow, with mild temperatures, heavy rain and northerly winds prevailing. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .14in. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .04in. Rainfall for August to date, .971 n. Average rainfall for August, 3.96in. Rainfall for year to date, 28.49in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32in. BPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikatoTliames Valley is ns follows: Forecast: Moderate to strong north-easterly to easterly winds. Weather dull and misty, with rain and some heavy falls in eastern areas. Temperatures, mild. Seas rough. General inference: Pressure has continued to be high to the south and east, but has fallen in the north, a depression having extended from the Tasman Sea across northern New Zealand.
