MIXED PUPILB AT SCHOOL. A GROUNDLESS ALLEGATION. (From a Correspondent.) SYDNEY, Aug. 7. Following inquiries made by the Education Department into the statements 'by parents that 13 children attending the Woolbrook School had aboriginal blood in llicit* veins, the Minister for Education (Mr Drummond) has decided that ten who were temporarily excluded, should be readmitted to the classes. Previously the parents had withdrawn 5 1 white children from the .school us a protest against then* asso-
elating with the children whom they alleged were of aboriginal extraction.
Mr Drummond deoided to remove three children pending inquiries and the white children resumed their studies.
Mr Drummond said that the reports he had received indicated that only two of the children excluded were half caste aborigines. The balance showed no marked aboriginal characteristics. The majority of them were clean, well mannered and fairly successful in their studies. Three c-hildren would be excluded temporarily, however, not
on the score of aboriginal blood, but because, under any circumstances, they were neglected children, who were not lit in their present slate to mingle with oilier children at the school.
He added that reports of disease among the alleged aboriginal children, had been investigated and found to be groundless.
