SHOWERS OF EGGS.

YUGOSLAV MINISTER PELTED. DISPUTE OVER CONCORDAT. TOMATOES AND .STONES THROWN. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright BELGRADE, Aug. 22. When Dr. Y'ankovitch, Yugoslav Minister of Forests and Mines, arrived at Kragujevatz to hold a meeting of protest against the attitude of the Orthodox Church in connection with the dispute about the concordat with the Vatican, 5000 peasants pelted him with eggs, tomatoes and stones. In consequence of the quantity of eggs thrown the price on the local market rose from a halfpenny to twopence and all were sold. Whenever anyone appeared on the balcony of the hotel where Dr. Yankovitch had taken refuge he was greeted with showers of eggs. The entire facade of the hotel was soon plastered by these missiles and all the windows were broken. Police Forced to Withdraw. The police with fixed bayonets attempted to disperse the crowd, whereupon the peasants produced axes and revolvers and also carbines, from which shots were fired into the air. The police were forced to withdraw. Dr. Yankovitch escaped through a back door. Then 10,000 people formed a procession and marched through the town. At the protest meeting a woman urged the men to take up. axes and revolvers and the women to arm themselves with rolling pins against the Government.
