JkOCAL. OBSERVATIONS. The following local observations on the weather are supplied by Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, Limited, Hamilton: Barometer. Monday 30.25 Tuesday 30.20 Thermometer. Max. Min. Sunday 62 40 Monday 62 53 Mean Temperature, 57.5 deg. The barometer reads 30.20 and has very little movement. Partly fair and partly cloudy weather is indicated to-day and to-morrow, with mild temperatures, northerly winds prevailing and rain following. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 24 'hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .041 n. Rainfall for previous 48 hours, .00in. Rainfall for August to date, .83in. Average rainfall for August, 3.96in. Rainfall for year to date, 28.35in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32in. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikatoTliames Valley is as follows: Forecast: Moderate to strong north-easterly winds, reaching gale force in some exposed positions. Weather dull and misty with rain In most places and some heavy falls. Temperatures mild. Sjeas rough. General Inference: Pressure is still high over and east of the Dominion. The depression to the westward has made little eastward movement and appears to have been losing intensity.
