FATAL CLASHES
PEASANTS AND POLICE. 20 DEAD. THREE FATALLY BHOT. GENERAL STRIKE DECLARED. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received August 23, 3.15 p.m.) WARSAW. August 22. Twenty peasants were shot dead and three police fatally injured in clashes in Jaro-slav, where the peasants, demanding seats In the Government, declared a general strike, refusing to sell produce to towns. Seven thousand peasants stormed the police headquarters and ammunition store, fourteen falling under a hail of bullets. Later clashes Increased the deathroll. The strike is scheduled for ten days. Police reinforcements have been sent out.
