JX)CAL OBSERVATIONS. The following local observations on the weather are supplied by Miss BiudU, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, Limited, Hamilton: Barometer. Monday 30.25 Thermometer. Max. Min. Sunday 62 40 Mean Temperature, 51 deg. The barometer reads 30.25 and has very little movement. Indications are for fair to cloudy weather to-day, with higher temperature and south-easterly winds prevailing, later becoming northerly. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 48 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .001 n. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .OOin. Rainfall for August to date, .79in. Average rainfall for August, 3.961 n. Rainfall for year to date, 28.31 in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.321 n. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the Waikato* Thames Valley Is as follows: Forecast: Moderate to strong north-east, to northerly winds reaching gale force in some exposed positions. Weather cloudy to overcast, and *rain probable, with some heavy falls. Temperatures mild. Seas rather rough to rough. General Inference: Pressure is still high over and to the east of New Zealand, but a rather deep cyclonic depression Is located over the east central portion of the Tasman Sea.
