They were fired by Maginet Line artillerymen who were carrying out manoeuvres, who had pointed the guns In the wrong direction. The shells were duds, but several houses were damaged. The villagers' took shelter in cellars while the Mayor telephoned the military authorities and stopped the bombardment within a few minutes.
