FARMHOUSE RAZED
' DESTRUCTION AT TE KAWA. NEIGHBOURS’ EFFORTS FAIL. , Leaping flames rising from the large farmhouse owned hv Mr James Thomas, of To' Kavva, attracted the 1 attention of neighbours early last night but the strenuous efforts of a , 1 i number of helpers failed and the dwelling was razed. At the time of the' outbreak Mr Thomas and his family were In Hamilton shopping. By the time the neigh- ■ hours reached the fire tho flames had i a strong hold. Attempts to enter tho ! building were unsuccessful and It j was Impossible to salvage any of the i furniture. Two out-buildings were saved, while’ a larcre motor lorry, the j ’ property of Mr Thomas, was driven j out of the garage to safety. The house was a six-roomed one and burned verv rapidly as there was not , 1 wateV available for hoses. It was j totallv destroyed. It Is understood that the house and j furniture were Insured.
