RETURN TO POPULARITY.

FLEBH AND BLOOD SHOWS. SIR BENJAMIN FULLER’S VIEWS. The show business is on the up grade, according to Sir Benjamin Fuller, who arrived at Wellington by the Awatea from Sydney. Everywhere in the world stage productions are increasing their popularity, and, although New Zealand Is well off the beaten path of most companies, the growing interest In “flesh and blood” performances Is having Its Influence here, he said. The new* company, the Montague Show, that Fuller and Sons are bringing to New Zealand will have a different appeal from the Marcus Show, as the humour will be less “slick,” a word associated with American productions, and more typical of English music-halls. “ I hever like to hear of a bad show,” said Sir Benjamin, “as it means that people will be discouraged from supporting stage shows. The present era of prosperity is having a good effect on the show business, and after the sucoess of the Marcus Show there is an added Inducement to other companies to come to New Zealand.” The Montague Show will open the New Zealand tour at Auckland on Monday.
