WHITIKAHU PARTY.

FOR HALL FUND. A highly successful party, in aid of the Whitikahu iHall fund, was held ( at the residence of Mrs G. I. Anderson i recently. • Additional funds were raised hy competitions and a mock court, at ’ which the assembled guests formed i the jury, every person present being 1 charged and fined after being found ; guilty by the jury. The charges j were of a humorous and varied nat- I ure and caused much amusement. I The competitions were won by Mr Scrimshaw, Miss Marie Nicholson and - Mr J. O’Hearn. Another item which < caused much amusement was a mod- i ern version of the fan dance, given by the trio, Messrs G. Anderson, V. Harris and Roy Harris. Much appreciated songs were given by Mr . Scrimshaw, of Gordonton, and Mr Frank Tregoweth, of Hamilton. Mr < S. Lingard led -community singing with his mouth-organ. Supper was then served. The hostesses were Mrs G. G. 1 Scott, wearing a royal blue ensemble, and Mrs G. I. Anderson wearing a 1 scarlet pimpernel evening frock re- • lieved with white shoulder spray. After supper an auction sale was ! held. Mr P. Clark, president of the Hall Society, then thanked Mr and Mrs G. I. Anderson, Mr and Mrs G. G. Scott and Messrs R. H. and V. P. | Harris, who had jointly given the ; party, for raising the sum of £lO 9s 3d. Mr Scott and Mr Anderson suitably replied, after which the guests • accorded musical honours.
