THE ROBIN. This fearless. rhoerv little bird Is one or the most popular British birds. The hen is slightly duller In plumage, but lacks nothing In rricndllness. The red breast Is to be round throughout all hut the most bleak and barren localities of the British isles. The nest is built with mo<s atm dead leaves, lined with hair and leathers, and Is generally to be round In a crevice, on a wall hank or tree fairly near the ground. The eggs vary from 1 live to seven, are white in colour, and heavily speckled with dull red. Maureen llenloul (12). | THE BLACKBIRD. Another very ramlllar bird throughout the countryside Is the blackbird with its Jet black coat ami golden beak. The male is an exceptionally beauttrul songster. The loud cackling notes that are uttered as an alarm are often heard In the woodlands or hedgerows. The Blackbird !> general In all parts of the world e\Nests. which may l)e round in the bushes hedges, low tree, piles or cut faggot, etc.. are made ehletly or grass, similarly lined and containing four to six eggs which are of a greenish-blue, heavily speckled with reddish brown.
