HAMILTON LADIES' CLUB. HANDICAP FOURSOMES. (By ‘‘All Square.”) Both matches In the semi-finals of the match play foursomes were decided on the 18th green, Mrs McDonald and Mrs Blundell winning from Mrs Mander and Miss Provls 1 uo ana Miss Wilkinson and Mrs Worley defeating Mrs Sandford and Mrs Colin Taylor, 1 up. The final will be played on August 30. Horton Oup. Miss Coventry Is evidently back to her old match play form and has a good chance In the competition. Mrs W. A. Smith, who accounted for Miss Wilkinson, will meet her in the next round. Mrs McCracken and Mrs Groom's match finished all square. The winner will meet Mrs C. F. O’Connor, who accounted for Mrs G. B. Isdale after a hard struggle, both players producing their best golf. Mrs H. MoDonald will find it hard to give Mrs F. Harkness 19 strokes as Mrs Harkness has been playing very consistently, beating Mrs Joy in the first round, 4—3. The other match will be between Mrs E. V. Daldy and Miss J. Masters. Wednesday’* Play. Flag Match. —The flag was taken to the 19th green very early in the competition by Mrs >C. A. Arthur. Mrs P. E. Hart had a splendid chance' to carry It on but unfortunately sent two balls out of bounds at the 19th hole, thereby using up her strokes In penalities, and the flag was never moved from where it was first planted. Mrs Arthur’s gross score was 85 and Mrs Hart’s 92. Under the new L.G.U. ruling scores returned in flag matches do not count for L.G.U. handicapping purposes so several players elected to try for an extra day score instead of playing in the flag competition. Mrs H. Matthews reduced to a 19 handicap with a nice score of 91. Mrs C. B. Wake also reduced one stroke. Mrs G. W. Gower, with a gross 86, was only two strokes above her handicap. Mrs N. Rawlings, with four 7’s on her card, had a gross 87. During the week Mrs H. Ambury reduced to a 25 handicap. Mrs R. B. Hart reduced one stroke and Is playing well. Mrs F. Harkness has reduced another stroke and is steadily Improving. South Auckland Tournament. The South Auckland Open Championship tournament will commence on Tuesday, and given fine weather it should be a success. Splendid entries have been received, players coming from Christchurch, Tiniaru, Wellington, Manawatu, Wanganui, Gisborne, Whakatane, Waimarino, Otorohanga, Te Kuitl, Te Awamutu, Auckland, Whangarei, Kaikohe, Pupuke, Akarana, Maungakiekie, Glendowie, Papakura, Walton, Paeroa, Morrinsville, Cambridge, Matiere, Te Aroha, Matamata. and Tauranga. There will be some low handicap players competing:—Miss V. Fleming on a 2 mark and also Mrs D. R. Foreman on a 2, are among the entrants Two qualifying rounds for the Ellis Cup and St. Andrews Handicap Cup will be played on Tuesday In conjunction with the medal events. On Tuesday there will be two rounds of match play for those who qualified in the above events as well as two bogey matches. On Thursday there will be the semi-finals and finals of the matches and medal foursomes will be played in the morning.

COMING FUNCTIONS. August 23.'—Hamilton High School Old Girls’ Association social evening at the Centreway at 8 p.m.
