MATAMATA QUOTATIONS. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly stock sale at Matamata yesterday, when a full yarding of sheep came forward. The entry comprised mostly fals, for which competition was keen, and values improved accordingly. A full yarding of cattle was forward with a large entry of fat cows and heifers. Butchers were present in good numbers and operated freely. Competition was brisk and prices showed a pronounced improvement. Boner and second quality oows were yarded in extra good numbers for this season of the year, and quotations were firm. Young sound cows and two-year heifers were in keen demand, an increase in values resulting*. A •small yarding of dairy cattle comprised mostly heifers. Competition for lots showing quality and close to profit was keen, while backward heifers were not in demand. A full yarding of all classes of pigs saw competition keen throughout. Bidding was brisk and late rates were, maintained. Store pigs, especially, sold well. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held their Ngongotaha stock sale yesterday when a good yarding of cattle came forward, comprising mostly dairies, which sold readily under keen competition to a representative bench of buyers. Beef was also keenly sought. Medium fat cows made to £9 19s; light, £6 5s to £7; store cows, £2 ISs to £3 16s; small steer calves to £3 12s; yearling heifer calves, £2 13s to £3 Is; small twoyear heifers, to £3 16s; bulls, £5 10s to £7. Dairy Cattle: Jersey and Jersey cross heil'ers, early calvers, £7 to £7 15s; more backward, £5 15s to £6 15s; best dairy cows, £7 15s to £8 ss; later calvers, £6 to £7 ss; older and backward cows, £4 to £5 ss. Pigs: Medium stores, 28s to 30s; weaners, to 19s; sow and young, £4 2s Od. ADDINGTON MARKETS. PRICES INCLINED TO EASE. There were heavy entries at the Addington market in most sections of •stock, due to there having been no sale last week because ol’ the Grand National holiday. Prices were inclined to ea-se. Store Sheep.—A heavier entry. Aged ewes were cheaper by Is Od, wether and ewe hoggets were unchanged, and young ewes slightly better. Two-tooths made to 375, sound-mouth to 24s Gd, ewe hoggets lo 335. Fat Sheep.—An overflow penning comprised about 7000 head. Heavy plain wethers were cheaper by 3s, others by 2s to 2s fid, good ewes by up to Is on National Market rales, and hoggets showed little, change. Fat Pigs.—There was a strong sale, brought the host prices for a long brougflht the best prices for a long time. Values were from 32s Gd lo 63s fid, an average of 6*d to 7Ad per lb. Baeoners sold from 53s 6d to 59s 6d, average price per lb 6Ad to 7d, choppers 58s Gd lo 103 s Gd. Store pigs: There was a keen sale for weaners, which made from 13s to 17s 6d for lmst., stores 15s to 28s, ’ sows in pig 30s to 80s.
HIDES AND SKINS.
THE DUNEDIN SALE. (Hy Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Thursday. Although Hie offering at to-day’s rabbit sskin sale was again lighter, there was no hardening of prices, which were again lower than last sales rales, in sympathy with Sydney sales, which showed a sharp deeiim over Die past fortnight. There an still good winter skins coming forward, these being disposed of at price' from id to 7d lower for bucks, an. par to fid lower for does. The. offering of outgoings and springs was heavier, and prices eased Id to 7d oi all these grades. Incomings and earl; winters were neglected, owing to tin small quantities offered, prices decliu ing S.l to 15d. Lower grades am hatters were ilrm, and in some ease sold in advance, of last sales rates.
