RACING AT ELLERSLIE.

PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB. TE RAPA WELL REPRESENTED. REVIEW OF PROSPECTS. (By “Martian.") Fine fields are carded for the annual meeting of the Pakuranga Hunt Club, at Ellerslie, to-morrow, and with the promise of fine weather conditons, the new season in the Auckland province should be ushered in auspiciously. Te Rapa stables are freely represented. Following are the fields with a review of the prospects:— 11.49

GREENMOUNT HUNTERS’ STEEPLECHASE. Of £200; about 2J miles.

There is some promising material entered for the Hunters’ event and the top-weight, Lochlel Lad, has demonstrated that he will not be troubled by the Ellerslie country. His second to All Irish In the Hunt Club Cup, at Ellerslie, In June, was a meritorious performance, and Indications are lie will bo the actual favourite. Rozel Is a good sort who is sure to go well, while Gay Cavalier, Royal Chips, Adsum and Starita all possess chances. Jolly Broney has been schooling well of late while others to come within a like . category are the Te Rapa Jumpers, \ Day Boy and Precise. The favourites may be— LOCHIEL LAD ROZEL JOLLY BRONEY

High Commissioner has been off the soene for a long time and while he has ben working well, Chang will no doubt be preferred to him. He appears to be all the better l'or the racing v e had at Trentlinm. Prince Colossus will be having his first taste of hurdle company and will have to he taken on trust. Cadger is a strong possibility and he looks well. -SubEditor, Tuaheahe and Sweet Lap will have a following and the latest schooling of l’rnnyplain suggests that lie postesses more than an outside chance. When the final figures are. hoisted there should he good support forthcoming for— CIIANG TUAHEAHE •GADDER

On her form at Gisborne where she won either day, May a PP® a s the hardest to dispose or. 1 Aero flt and well, would possess an excellent chance, while, Myth. Pal '>B‘ ire. Rinpihot, solo Son*, cam •« Captain Bruce will all have then following. Among the 1-Hely improver engaged Is Shining Spear, whose recent efforts on the tracks at Te Rapa, hold promise of a early return. Ot likely sorts are Saccone, Lookmt, Bar rloade and Bronze Lady. The puhHo, however, may prefer the credentials of:— MAY SONG PALUSTRE RINGSHOT 1.54

The material Is there for a most Interesting race. Enge s Trentham running points to the Matamata representative making a hold showing. \almlnt’s June form was good and he has been hitting out attractively on the tracks. Armacourt is a capable l sort and the firmer going will enhance the chances of Kiltown. Versant will have splendid fitness on his side and Tybalt, Merial, Lord Val and Loomblnation have the credentials to j command attention. Erndale, Orae and Parquet are a trio of light-weights! with good prospects and they should race prominently. A well-supported trio may be: — ENGE VALMINT MERIAL i PAKURANGA HUNT CUP. , Of £525 and cup valued at £25; about 3

Hej 3 lias boon working and schooling well! since his June success. Tangled won - attractively at Rlccartnn and despite I his rise in poundage lie should prove one of the hardest to dispose of. - Kinkle should go well and other likely !. sorts comprise Sleepy, London, Lochd lei Lad and Rozel. II should be an - Interesting race with preference likely to lie extended:— TANGLED I ALT. IRISH I SLEEPY

There are several likely improvers engaged here and there is every pros- i pect of an upset. Tip Toes has shown . good form on occasion and Skyway , demonstrated recently that he will; have to be treated with every respect.’ if reserved. Lady Diana, Dutch Gbland Young Paddon are a handy trio j and the form of the latter two at , Trentham commends their claims. Gay . Streak has been shaping well on the i tracks as also has Bryce Mreet, who appears to be on the improve. The: best of the others may be Erliek, Merc , link a and Shining Spear, it is an open ; raco with good support indicated lor: BRYCE STREET DUTCH GIRL GAY STREAK

Horsemanship Invariably plays an important part in a raco of this description. Skyway’s good form recently will ensure him a strong following. Diacqucdoon and Red Fox are not without prospects and the latter should account for Diacqucdoon. Hairangi, Gay Cavalier, Adsum. Right. Royal and Tahae Mea. are possibilities and the track essays of To Whiowhio suggest more than an outside chance for J. F. Tutchen’s representative. The prime fancies may be: — SKYWAY HAIRANGI TE WHIOWHIO 4.44 DUNEDIN HANDICAP.

Gallio has been off the scene for a considerable spell but has been in steady work for some time and promises to strip a XU horse on the day. Triune, if right, would be one of the hardest to dispose of, but Prince Acre, on Trentham running, will probably be preferred to him. Fersen and Jonathan may need racing and Johnny Walls and Gay Seton should hold them safe. The latter has been shaping in attractive style on the local tracks. Bachelor King, Kilonsa, Maori Soiig and Erndale are handily weighted for , the part, while of the others to appeal t are Yalamito and Huntingmore. In f; a good betting race the favourites may ij be:— , YALAMITO MAORI SONG GALLIO

ERNDALE SCRATCHED. WITHDRAWAL FROM SPRINT. Erndale was scratched at. 1 1.20 n.m. yesterday for Ihe Dunedin Handicap at the Pakuranga Hunt. He still remains in the Jcllicoe Handicap.
