THE PRIMARY PRODUCERS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —The subject of the controversy between Mr Alex. Boyd and myself 'was the desirability or otherwise of paying to the farmer an additional 3id per lb fat to cover the recent costs Imposed by legislation. Out of the mass of Irrelevant matter which Mr Boyd has attempted to introduce into 'the discussion I have gleaned the following “argument”: He is opposed to any increase being paid to the farmer because “at the time of the Great "War the working man had to go and fight while the majority of producers and dairy farmers were allowed to stay at home in security and reap the benefit.” Such a statement is botli inaccurate and insulting. In the first place, there are as many returned soldiers among farmers as In any other walk of life —possibly more. In the second place, if Mr Boyd lias a grudge against the stay-at-homes ho will find no lack of them among tho i leaders of his own party—and they arc i not farmers. —I am, etc., KULAK. i Hamilton. August 19.
