Rainfall for August to date, .79in. Average rainfall for August, 3.96in. Rainfall for year to date, 28.31in. Average yearly rainfall, 4 6.32in. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by tlie Government Meteorologist covering the WaikatoThanies \ alley is as follows: Forecast; Light to moderate northerly winds prevailing and later freshening. Weather fair to line and mild, but cloud increasing and rain developing during to-morrow slight to moderate. General Inference: The anti-cyclone which has been controlling the weather over New Zealand during the past few days is now centred to the eastward, and a series of westerly depressions is advancing across the Tasman Sea.
