QUESTION OF EDUCATION.
(by Telegraph.—press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. An assurance of the Government’s wholehearted sympathy with the work of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society was given by the Minister of Health and Education, the Hon. P. Fra-ser, when officially opening the second annual meeting. Mr Fraser commended the efforts already made to alleviate the lot of those in whose interests the society was established. He said the two departments of which he was the head came into close contact with the society’s work, and there was a desire to help in every possible way. In a letter, the president, Mr Justice Smith, apologising for his .absence, referred to the establishment of women’s auxiliaries as a stroke of insight, and described the taking over of the Wilson Home by the Auckland Hospital Board as an admirable solution of a financial difficulty admirably effected. Sir Alexander Roberts, who presided, eulogised the work accomplished by the branches during the year. It was decided to arrange a conference with the Education Department to investigate the whole question of the education of crippled children and to endeavour to arrive at a satisfactory scheme. Health Camp at Rotorua. It was decided, on a remit from tho Hawke's Bay branch, that the society should endeavour to have part of the funds collected for the King George V.
