The miners in the southern and western fields endorsed the settlement regarding wages reached at the conTerence last week. The general secretary of the Miners’ Federation said that the stop-work meetings and stay-in strikes had had more influence with the owners than ttie arguments of the federation leaders. A move to end the gas workers’ stay-in strike was made to-day toy the. Trades Halt disputes committee, which obtained a conference with representatives of the Metropolitan Gas Company. This was adjourned until tomorrow.
