CONCLUSION OF HOLIDAY. LEAVE GLAMIS FOR BALMORAL. RUSHED BY HOLIDAY CROWDS. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Aug. IG. The King and Queen and the two Princesses have concluded their holiday al Glamis Castle and returned by road to Balmoral. Their Majesties probably will pay a further visit tu Glamis early in October. A bitter discussion has been aroused at Crathie in Aberdeenshire over holiday crowds rushing the King and Queen at Crathie church last week. On the occasion of King Edward's first Sunday as King at Balmoral Castle, cars and buses crammed with sightseers stretched for miles on- both sides of the church. When the kilted beadle open the door the queue fought its way to tlie aisle and rushed him toward tlie transept. The Aberdeen Traffic Commissioners refused an application to run 12 buses to Crathie to-day. Already, however, tourist charabancs are passing Balmoral Castle at minute intervals. The King led the life of a country gentleman when lie was at Balmoral Castle. Those close to him say that lie is healthier than ever, hut Ids advisers are anxious that he and tiie Queen should have a rest before the opening of the autumn season Court. THE DUKE OF WINDSOR. OFFER OF POLISH THRONE. RUMOURS ON TIIE CONTINENT. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright LONDON, August 17. Persistent rumours are current on the Continent to the effect that the Duke and Duchess of Windsor will bo asked to become King and Queen of Poland, says the Sunday Dispatch. Tiie idea emanates from the Polish Monarchist Party, which last week made a similar request lo the Duke of Kent. They realise that Ilu* Duke of Kent cannot accept a foreign throne, but they believe I tic Duke of Windsor may be free to do so. The Duchess of Windsor (whose, maiden name was Wartleld), has sent £5 in response io an appeal for a new village school at Warfield, Berkshire. The Rev. J. T. Parlilt, the vicar, recalled that last year he had shown his church to an American, who said she had come to see the home of her ancestors. He was not aware of her identity until weeks later. Last month he wrote to her, solociting a subscription.
