WAITOA SCHOOL.
FANCY DRESS DANCE. The Waitoa Hall was filled to eap- ! aclly recently, the occasion being a I fancy dress dance organised by the J School Committee In aid of school funds. The headmaster and teachers are to he congratulated on the training of the children, every item being very much enjoyed. Almost every child ! attending the school was in fancy cos- ! tume, a fact which made the Judges’ i task a rather difficult one. 1 M r j. Lynch, in a brief speech, S thanked all those who had contributed i to the success of a wonderful evening. The prize-winners were as follows: Best costume, boy under school age. Graham Munro (Drummer Boy); best girls. Bettv Prince (Coronation) ; Lois Keatlnge '(Little Baggy Breeches); best costume. Infants, boy, David Johnson (John Bull) ; best costume, girl, Myrtle Reeve (Bride) ; most orig-
inal boy, Bruce Blgwood (Chef) ; most original, Fay Hyde (Christmas Cracker) . Standards 1,2 and 3. —Best boys, Ross Fleming (Chip off the Old Block), and Gordon Fleming (Rabbit) ; best girl, Shirley Johnson (Mother Goose); most original, Eric Prince (Wedding Cake).
