ANSELL CUP ISSUE. TWO TEAMS LEVEL IN POINTS. EFFECT OF SATURDAY'S DRAW. (By “Pivot.”) With a draw in the Ansell Cup series on Saturday the issue is noxv undecided, and it will be necessary for Wanderers and Huntly to play off an additional two matches, and if the result is then unaltered the positions will be decided on the goal aggregates of the two special rounds. This is rather i unfortunate for Wanderers, xvlio had many opportunities of xvinning their match with Rovers on Saturday, but : failed at critical stages. Table of Points.

Poop Shooting. .With anything approaching accurate shooting Wanderers would have defeated Rovers on Saturday, and there xvere numerous occasions xvhen a reliable boot would have easily put the ball into the net. At other times players made the mistake, of trying to shoot from impossible positions and x-aluable opportunities were lost. When forwards learn the value of snapping up opportunities in the goalmouth there is likely to be a vast improvement in this department. At the present time the majority of forxx-ards retain possession too long and alloxv backs to take a hand in things. This xvas very; noticeable in the game on Saturday, xvhere Wright and Clark, the Rovers backs, were able to relieve on numerous occasions through the neglect on the part of the Wanderers’ van to pass the ball at critical stages. The short., accurate transferences xvere features of the English and Australian touring teams’ attacking play, and their example is worlliy of emulation. Indiscriminate Kicking. There is still too much Indiscriminate kicking in football in Hamilton, and on Saturday it xvas fortunate that j players were not Injured. It is not j done deliberately, but in no circumstances is a player justified in adoptj ing tactics that may cause injury. I While a defending player is to be j commended for resolute defence there ' Is no excuse why sound ladies should not always he safe tactics. In a game in xvhich the standard of football xvas anything but high Farr xvas the outstanding man on the field at Seddon Park on Saturday. Although the Wanderers’ shooting was very poor, the Rovers’ custodian xvas called on to* clear some, very difficult drives, and lie came out xvith flying colours. The efforts xvhere lie xvent full length to push the ball out xvere up to the best provincial standard. Farr has not played many games in goal this season, but has improved rapidly. Schonau, Hie regular goalie, xvas playing in the forxvard line, but had the misfortune to be injured. In this respect lie has had but little luck.
