FRANKTON STOCK VALUES. BHARP RISEB RECORDED. BULLOCKS UP TO £l6 17s 6d. The best ox beef sale for eight years was experienced at the Frankton stock sale to-day when best bullocks sold at from £l4 to £l6 17s 6d, and up to 40s per 1001 b. Fat cows and heifers sold up to £l6 6s per head, this figure also being the best obtained at the yards for a very long period. In the sheep section choice wethers sold at prices up to 60s, the highest level for a considerable number of years. Higher prices were also realised for fat pigs. Although the average entry of bullocks on otter was not of exceptional quality, the bidding was animated from the outset, butchers being particularly active. The bulk of the entries sold above £ls 10s. The sale was reminiscent of boom periods. The top price of 40s per 1001 b. for ox beef represented an increase of 5s on last week’s quotations. Sheep In Keen Request. Cows and heifers were likewise in eager request, best sorts selling to £l3 to £ls ss, the top price last week being £l4 ss. To-day’s prices ranged up to 38s per 1001 b. Plainer descriptions and boner cattle generally made advanced rates. All fat sheep was auctioned under brisk competition, choicest wethers changing hands at from 44s to 50s and fat sorts from 40s to 42s 6d. Prime ewes were readily quoted and were kuocked down at from 34s 6d to 41s against the top price of 30s to 34s 6d last week. Fat and unfinished sorts also made advanced money. Hoggets sold at practically the same rates as last week. Generally speaking, fat sheep showed an increase of from 5s a head over last week’s figures. A medium entry of fat pigs, which Included a larger proporton of baconers, was In keen demand, baconers selling up to 92s and medium porkers to 60s. One line of 53 baconers averaged 80s. Quotations were:— Prime bullocks, £ls to £l6 17s 6d; lighter, £l3 5s to £l4 10s; small, £lO to £l2; choice cows and heifers,’ £l3 to £ls 4s; fat, £9 10s to £l2; small and unfinished, £5 to £8 7s. Extra prime wethers. 44s to 50s; fS.t, 40s to 42s 6d. unfinished, 36s 6d to 38s 9d; shorn, 30s; extra prime ewes, 34s 6d to 41s; fat, 28s to 32s 6d; unfinished, 18s to 255; shorn, 24s 6d; fat hoggets, 30s 6d to 355; lighter, 22s 6d to 27s 6dBaconers, 60s to 925; porkers, 40s to 60s.
