A FRUITLESS SEARCH. WIDE AREA COVERED. ESQUIMAUX QUESTIONED. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. NEW YORK, August 15. A report from Fairbanks at midnight strengthens the belief that the overdue Soviet aeroplane descended on the ice. Representatives of Pan-American Airways at Fairbanks radioed that the crews of a seaplane and two land machines searched without result over 2000 miles, extending half way to the Pole. They landed at a number of settlements and questioned Esquimaux.
