SUPREME COURT OPENS.
LIGHT CRIMINAL LIST. TRUE BILLS RETURNED. The quarterly session of the Supreme Court opened in Hamilton today, Mr Justice Callan presiding. True Bills were returned by the Grand Jury in respect to the charges preferred against Kenneth Patrick Blair, chemist, of Hamilton, and j Charles Edward Murphy. Blair face* a charge of supplying a noxious thing i with intent to procure a miscarriage, ■ while Murphy is arraigned on four * counts, embracing charges of forgery. | theft, breaking and entering and theft. and unlawful conversion of a car. i The only other criminal case on the ' calendar is the re-trial of George , Osier Barnes, who is charged on four counts with indecent assault, j In a brief address to the Grand 1 Jury, His Honour congratulated the district on the light criminal list. The following were the members of the Grand Jury: Messrs J. H. Edgecumbe (foreman), E. H. Grocott, T. \V. Greenslade, F. G. Keep, F. A. Marcroft. R. R. Menzies, D. G. Andrews, L. Andrews, H. M. Baker, G. H. V. Bindon. H. Blackman, \V. Bourne, J. Gates. C. W. Moore, C. Sutcliffe, N. G. Sutherland, E. Thomas, 11. E. Waller. BORSTAL FOR BURGLARY. SENTENCES AT NAPIER. (By Telegraph.—Pre*s Association ) NAPIER, Tuesday. j Albert Arthur Aston and Malcolm i McCallum McKenzie charged jointly on two counts of breaking and entering i with intent and also with theft and i attempted breaking and entering were i sentenced to-day by Mr Justice Reed to two years’ Borstal oij each charge to be concurrent. McKenzie was also charged with unlawful conversion of a car and theft.
