WEDDING.

GRIFFIN—IVIcCONNEL. The marriage was solemnised at the Presbyterian Church, Ngaruawahia. on the afternoon of August 14 between ! Jarvis, voungest daughter of Mr and ! Mrs K. A. McConnel, of Ngaruawahia, and Leo. eldest son of Mr and Mrs E. jp. Griffin, of Kainui. The ceremony wa-i performed by the Bov. A. Fother- ! Ingham, and Miss I. Gerrard presided :at ttie organ. The church had been very beautifully arranged by friends ! of the bride with spring blooms and greenery. i The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a. charming gown of Ivorv satin fashioned with an ivory lace yoke, slim tit ting to the knees and flaring u> form a slight train, wore a beautiful veil of embroidered tulle caught to the head j with orange blossom and arranged as ! a halo, and carried a sheaf of ivory ! roses and maidenhair fern- ! Slip was attended by four brldes- ' maids and two flower-girls. The two elder bridesmaids. Miss Grace Griffin nn.l Miss Gwen Menzies, wore frocks of Margaret Rose taffeta set with lace yokes and medici collars. The skirts were slim to the knees and flared with godets. and they wore bands of pleated net arranged as halos, and carrier! bouquets of spring flowers. Miss Melva Menzies and Miss Kathleen ! Foster wore frocks of pale green net ! over satin finished with hands of satin round the very full skirts and tiny hows at the waists. They wore green head-bands of pleated net and carried bouquets of daffodils. The two flower-girls. Colleen Foster and Yvonne Menzies, wore similar frocks of blue net over satin and carried posies of spring flowers. Mr B. McConnel was best man, and Mr Owen McConnel was groomsman. Mr Ron Norman was usher.

After the ceremony a reception was held in the Masonic Hall, which was beautifully decorated with flowers and streamers of white, pink, green and blue. The guests were received by the bride's mother, Mrs E. A. McConnel, who wore, a smart navy costume, 1 fox fur, and hat to tone, and carried a I posy of violets and freezias. She was i assisted by the, bridegroom’s mother, Mrs E. P. Griffin, who wore a navy pin striped costume, fox fur and navy hat. and carried a posy of golden freezias and violets. When Mr and Mrs Leo Griffin left by car for the honeymoon the bride travelled wearing a smart navy costume with accessories to tone.

Prince Bernard of Holland rc<'**ntly celebrated tiis 2Gth birthwith a lit lie party at the Soestdyk Palace. The programme included national dances in the court yard executed by inhabitants from I.lppe-Detmold. On stairs the Royal family of Holland is seen watching the dance.
